When trying to find a cheap seo company or quality seo company you must look for several things that will make sure you are hiring someone talented and credible. Unfortunately any one out there can say that they perform SEO, however you must learn what tactics they use and what results they can prove.
I recommend you ask any seo company you speak with for references and statistics of improvements! This is a biggy, you need to make sure that they have a proven track record, or else you could be completely throwing your money away. Make sure that the seo company talks to you in simple terms, they need to understand that you are new to this and not just try to confuse you with big words – because then you don’t know what seo services you are getting.
Someone that is truly good at seo can show you 5 – 10 sites with good seo results. By obtaining these statistics you will know that no luck was involved and that they are truly knowledgeable and that they can get your job done. Once you hire a SEO person, you must be able to put trust in to your relationship with this person or company. Hiring someone for SEO services takes faith in your success. I have several customers that will tell me what is needed to improve their rankings, and want me to focus on tactics that end up delaying improvements. I always tell my customers that I need 3-4 months for results, and I rarely fail providing stellar results. Once you have found someone, put your faith in them and give them around 2-3 months to prove results (more or less depending on the key word popularity). The pros of hiring a SEO company is that you are choosing a business that should be able to show you a track record as to what they have done. The cons of hiring an SEO company is that some businesses are expensive. You must weigh the financial obligation and intrinsic value.
When looking for an affordable or a cheap seo company, you must shop around. There are many affordable companies out there. The honest truth is that if you are competing for a term that is not too competitive or popular, your costs should be low (maybe a couple hundred dollars). If you are competing for a key term such as jewelry, automotives, or any other major term or phrase – you must be prepared to pay a SEO company for ongoing work (most likely expensive).
When screening your seo company, I recommend that you find a company that comes up high in the search engines themselves (ask them what terms they come up under). Find out what customer’s of theirs have succeeded online. Find out what methodologies they use. I only recommend the following tactics:
- Updating Meta Tags
- Updating Page Content
- Updating Page Titles
- Development Of New Content
- Link Building (one way and reciprocal)
- Article Development and Deployment
- Video Deployment
- Forum & Blog Links
Other methodologies may be used, however make sure they sound like the ethical thing to do. Trying to trick the search engines can get you banned or penalized.

The one, best reference is to see if they are members of the largest most reputable group of Search professionals, SEMPO (the Search Engine Marketing Professionals Organization. Their directory of member companies is here: http://www.sempo.org/directories/ You can find one in your areas with that link. It's not an endorsement but it's very helpful.
What else can you do? Here are some RED flags – don't work with any vendor that says they guarantee or promise the top spot or even the first page. Either they can't deliver or they will get you rankings for keywords that don't prove value, such as for your brand name.
SEO's for small businesses are typically small businesses themselves, so get local references. Ask for five and call at least three. Remember that you don't need just traffic, you need "quality" traffic and that's what makes a good SEO. Ask the references if they get more SALES as a result.
As a fall-back, call your yellow page provider. All of them have an SEO program (AT&T, Yellow Book, Verizon etc.). They are reputable and have generally good results. You can also use Web.com, Yodle and Reach Local. They are national companies and have average results (see links below). They will also give you a good idea of what the right rates should be…

"Best" and "most affordable" are a contradiction. To get the best help, you need to hire someone who is very experienced and skilled — and who therefore can command high fees. For a low budget, you'll get less experienced and less skillful efforts.
A company that says that they will "put you in 50,000 places" or "guarantee a top-10 position" is almost certainly a scam. The "50,000 places" goal is NOT SEO at all, it's spamming. The "guarantee" is usually worthless if you parse it out. In some cases, the "SEO" firm simply uses PPC bidding and thus as soon as the contract ends, your traffic ends, too.
Unfortunately, SEO requires a lot of planning and work, and takes many months to "pay off."
Using Google AdWords is also more complex than most folks understand. It's certainly a little bit easier to launch and manage, but the cost of PPC advertising is also impacted by your SEO work.

How to find a good SEO Company? The plain fact is that there are very few excellent SEO companies but there are tens of thousands of SEO companies that advertise their poor quality services. It is an unregulated and relatively new industry in considerable demand, so this is not so surprising.
Good SEO companies are in great demand and the first thing NOT to do is use one that offers their services on Yahoo answers! No professional SEO that is any good has the time to solicit clients through such a medium or even needs to do so.
Here is the procedure I recommend.
Start by looking here http://www.seoconsultants.com/ which is about the nearest you can get to peer reviewed SEO consultants directory. Draw up a list of (say 10) companies whose web presence and spectrum of services meet with your approval.

Now interview the companies on your shortlist and include the following questions and requests:

7. How many hours will they put into working on your site?
8. Make sure you will not be 'ransomed' if you decide not to use them any more at some stage.
9. Do they outsource any of the work? If they do you can reject them right away.
10. What results can you expect and over what time scales?
Once you have the answers to these questions for the companies on your short list you will find making a correct choice quite straightforward.
One last thing. The best SEOs in the world work for themselves because they make more money that way and those that choose to have clients do not come cheap so if you want a good ROI don't look for a bargin.

Well, you can easily find the good SEO consultant or companies through the keywords. Use SEO, Search engine optimization, SEO services etc..But one thing you need to gather some info like How old the company? what are the prices? previous achievements and Testimonials etc..
