Free SEO Advice

Free SEO Advice

If you’re interested in finding out more about Search Engine Optimisation, it’s worth checking out the mountains of free SEO advice that are available on the Internet. Of course, you should always use your common sense in evaluating the veracity of the information that is given on the Internet, but there are lots of great places to find good honest free SEO advice.

Article Sites:
People place free SEO help advice on this type of site in order to build online credibility. These sites are searchable so type anything related to SEO and you’ll find hundreds of pages of articles with varying degrees of helpfulness and accuracy. Some of the best sites such as Ezine Articles and Googlebase have some great free SEO advice and ensure the quality of their own articles.

Social Media
This category encompasses a huge range of sites and tools. From Blogs to Facebook, Squidoo to Second Life and Wikipedia to Twitter, all of these ways of disseminating information offer free SEO advice to anyone looking for it. With regard to Social Media, it’s all about which your favourite is and most comfortable way of getting your SEO advice for free.

Consultants’ Websites
All SEO consultants are keen to raise their profile, build their online standing and develop a reputation for being the best in the business. If you find their help particularly useful, you might even get in touch with them, you never know, they could help you further.

Google Webmaster Help
This is an incredibly useful resource created by Google, the masters of search engine technology themselves. Google represents over 80% of all searches made on the Internet, so they really know what they’re talking about. They offer step by step assistance in how to best optimise your website, FAQs, links, downloads, tools, and great advice on how to stay out of trouble. They won’t tell you how to be Number 1 on Google, but then again, no one can.

YouTube
This is a great site that features literally hundreds of free SEO advice videos, many by amateurs, but lots by experienced SEO professionals and experts across the world. Technically this is a form of Social Media, but it’s so helpful due to the often step-by-step videos posted on You Tube, it deserves a mention of its own.

Blackhat
You may find information and advice about so-called Blackhat SEO techniques. Sincerely, it’s best to steer well clear of these. Not only do they require specialist knowledge, they also carry a high risk of getting your site banned from all of the Search Engines

When you start looking for free SEO advice, you’ll soon see there’s literally hundreds of thousands of sites dedicated to it. Most of it is from someone trying to sell you something, but some of it is genuinely free. You’ll also immediately see that whilst some advice is uniformly trotted out, most of the details of effective SEO found on the Internet contradict each other. This can be a problem if you’re relying on free SEO advice for the DIY approach.

Search Engine Optimisation can be a tricky business. If you wish to do your own SEO, it’s best to make contact with a qualified SEO expert, who could help you out if things went wrong or advise you on the right steps to take.

Best thing to do before submitting to the SEs is to have your site ready to be searched. tThat means have it ready to go as much as you can before putting it to the search engines as they don't like to have repeated submissions made. You could be penalized.

Make sure your cmeta tags are up to date, the content is relavent to the site and appears as close to the top as possible. Might run your site through these:

There is so much rubbish and out of date SEO advice on the web that it is very difficult to separate the truth from the fiction unless you are already an expert.

Forums are particularly bad because you get every possible shade of opinion and if you are a beginner you have no way of knowing what is correct.

I have found only two up to date, free, high quality tutorials:

    http://www.seomoz.org/article/beginners-guide-to-search-engine-optimization

    http://www.seo-blog.com/tutorial.php

"Also, If you guys know about good free tools or trialware for seo that I could try and test for myself?"

No professional SEO uses website promotion software tools or software that automates SEO but they do use tools to find information as they are in the process of optimizing. The two sites above have links to the most appropriate tools and there is a good range of tools identified here http://www.seocompany.ca/tool/seo-tools.html

    Good luck!

Getting traffic is a combination of a lot of things. The key to success is to create great content that visitors want to use, search engines will love and other websites will naturally link to. Of course, it's easier said than done.

You can use pay per click advertising in the search engines to reach audiences looking for your products. You can use Google Adwords http://www.google.com/adwords or Yahoo http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com

Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:

    1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement – if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.

    2. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important — and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more – that's additional traffic that you get for FREE!

    Recommend Site Scripts (various) http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Big Nose Bird Recommend this Site http://bignosebird.com/carchive/birdcast.shtml
    CGI Resource Index http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
    Hostscripts http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Site_Recommendation/index.html

    3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.

If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com's "Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day." http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

    4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

    5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.

Here is a comprehensive list of where to submit your articles http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=AhzreGmnCUicOoyedqypscUjzKIX?qid=1006022407481

    6. Post a link to your site for free where it is allowed (always read the Terms of Use). Examples are:

    Craigslist http://www.craigslist.com
    Google Base http://base.google.com
    Classifieds for Free http://www.classifiedsforfree.com/...
    Text Link Exchange http://www.txtswap.com/
    Recycler.com http://www.recycler.com/

I would start with a keyword research, one website at a time. Then get you meta tags set up for each page for each site. After that make sure to run an XML sitemap and set them up with google analytics. I mean these are just grazing the surface. But start with step one and go from there! Maybe get a company to help you out.

  11. urlocalwebdesigner.com says:

SEO majority is backlink and keywords. As per you mentioned that you are using the right keywords, then you shall increase the keyword density if possible. Besides, you do link exchange, and you need to ensure your link is dofollow, else it wouldnt help much.

On the other hand, i will suggest you go for dofollow forum posting and dofollow blog commenting which is the easy way to build link and help your PR & SERP

hippies changed the way we think, tech savvy guys only make money for themselves and don't do anything to help or better the world. its great that this one guy found some money using the net but no one will remember their names in a few years. here you are 40 years later still complaining about hippies… I think that answers your question. they make an impact, you or he is just trying to make money.. what a loser.

politically active clothing?? you mean t-shirts with catchy slogans?? they were created by the hippies in the 60's. as was the internet… read history more. you and he just used it… thats not very innovative…

  13. Burton G says:

WebCEO will accomplish these things for you (except for the pagerank report) . There may be other programs that will, as well, but I know for a fact that WebCEO is a serious workhorse for serious SEO professionals. Here at Metapilot, we've owned a license for their professional version for years and use it on almost a daily basis. Schedule automatic keyword ranking reports, SEO reports and executive summary, reports on broken links and indexed pages–all on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis on an unlimited number of domains. The reports can be emailed in html, .mht, .xls, csv formats, viewed online , and/or viewed directly via the software itself. It does a lot more, too.

If you'd prefer not to spend the money and you can have a third party :) run the reports for you and brand them with your company name and logo so it looks like they were all done in-house.
